Ornamental grasses have it all! They are colorful, hardy, display all season interest,
and are easy to maintain. The texture, form, and colors of ornamental grass give
them a unique appearance in the landscape.
Ornamental grasses are easy to care
for and are relatively disease and pest free. They require little fertilizing but
do need to have the dead growth from the previous season removed in early spring
before new growth begins. Some of the taller grasses may require a pruning saw or
trimmer if the grass blades are very stiff. Tie the grass blades together with twine
or cord before cutting to make the job more manageable. Cut large clumps of grass
about 6 inches above the ground while smaller grasses can be cut about 2 inches above
the ground.
